## How to Upgrade Your Application

### Step 1 — Backup

Log in to your cPanel and open File Manager.

Navigate to your application folder (usually public_html or a subfolder).

Download these 2 items to your computer:

- The file .env — right-click, then choose Download
- The folder storage/app — select it, click Compress, download the zip, then delete the zip from server

Save them somewhere safe on your computer. You will need them after the upgrade.

### Step 2 — Delete old files

Still in File Manager, select all files and folders inside your application directory.

Click Delete. Make sure the directory is now empty.

### Step 3 — Upload new version

Click Upload in the File Manager toolbar.

Upload the new version zip file to your application directory.

Once uploaded, right-click the zip file and choose Extract. After extraction, delete the zip file.

If the extracted files are inside a subfolder, move everything out of that subfolder into the application root, then delete the empty subfolder.

### Step 4 — Restore your data

Upload the .env file you saved in Step 1 back to the application root. If asked to overwrite, choose Yes.

Upload the storage/app folder back into the storage/ directory. Overwrite when asked.

### Step 5 — Check permissions

In File Manager, find the storage folder. Right-click, choose Change Permissions, and set to 0755. Check the box "Recurse into subdirectories".

Do the same for the bootstrap/cache folder.

### Step 6 — Run database migration

Open your browser and visit:

    https://your-domain.com/migrate/run

Wait until the page finishes loading completely.

### Step 7 — Finalize the upgrade

Now visit:

    https://your-domain.com/admin/upgrade/finalize

Wait for the confirmation message.

### Step 8 — Done!

Go to your website and log in. Make sure everything looks good.

## Important note

As this is a major update with significant changes to the software architecture, it may not be fully compatible with previous versions of the Acelle series.
